Big time pain and trouble walking just around the house. Going to a grocery store is out of the question. I am paying out too much money just to have someone go to the drug store & grocery store + every thing else. I would love to have groceries delivered but I can't find a store to do that except Amazon & Walmart.com & that is only for shelf stable food.
I would love suggestions and names of food stores that deliver refrigerated food. I live in Daytona Beach, Florida and the city is too small for services like Amazon Fresh, Instacart, Uber delivery or any service like that. I hope I am not way off topic, but when I read your post I just had to find out about free food delivery. It's just about survival.
Fred, I lived in that area some years back, down at Ormond by the Sea.
Just a suggestion, some of the diners around there might deliver additional foods for you
if you make a habit of ordering from them for delivery. Off season especially.
Walmart has order online and pick up in store. Not sure if they are doing that with all items
such as milk, cold foods.
PeaPod is an online program that delivers food but not sure it does in your area.
It's many years ago back when Meals On Wheels first began and I worked for them. They delivered
one full meal every afternoon for qualified senior citizens. It was good food too.
I know what you mean, however. I order a lot of food items online thru Walmart...........OR did.
Walmart is now charging higher prices on most of their food products for shipment. They're trying
to get people into their store. So they display both prices for a product for ship and for pickup.
I think they would lose money like that.
There's more and more sites popping up that deliver package meals, snacks, etc.
Then there is Amazon that sells grocery items.
Mainly, for your area, all I can think of is Shwans. However you spell it.
Thank you Valerie for your ideas. I will do some checking. I did notice the Walmart.com thing. Shipping on food must be more costly than they thought. I did order food from them every few months but I don't like paying for this price increase. It won't work for them if they are trying to get me into their stores. I hated shopping there even when I could
walk normally and I used to work for them. I am an oddball because I am one of the ones who like Walmart. I will check out your suggestion on food pickup there.
The Schwans thing is one of the many that I have checked out & it is so expensive. I also checked out other frozen food delivery sites, but they are too high. I am thinking about checking out some of the weight loss companies that deliver, but I don't think they are any cheaper than when I did a brief scan of them before.
I may look at the Meals On Wheels option in more detail.
I tried Blue Apron for a few weeks & that didn't work because the food prep time was more than I could tolerate. I can't stand up for 30 minutes in a row to cook the food or even 10 minutes. I have to sit in a chair just to shower. The food there is not overly expensive until you compare it with Publix ounce per ounce.
You mentioned something about diners as a possible solution. Did you mean chain diners or locally owned ones? I was not aware of any diners that delivered outside of pizza type places. I had better check out more of them.
As usual Valerie, you have been helpful and I thank you. BTW, right now & for the last 2 days, the Video Loyalty Automotive site has many ads that I have been converting at a rate of 7 to 9 per hour. I have made well over $1 daily there yesterday & will today.
