Yes its already being said this wave will cool down by July but six months later there could be a third wave its common many countries are in the third or fourth wave, one has to be prepared for what's going to come experience of past always helps, last year no one knew what it would be like so it was a bit difficult but this time its easier to deal despite the rising numbers, people are too scared because they thought everything was over

Well just because some countries had a 3rd and 4th wave, does not automatically mean it will be the same for ALL...... The whole war with variants and waves can be won under one simple condition - enough vaccine coverage !!! If enough % of the population is vaccinated, it means less chances for new variants and it eliminates waves. What you will see are mini waves, where cases increase, BUT hospital / deaths number remain the same or are lower, which means the vaccines are working. BUT you cannot get this scenario unless AT LEAST 3/4 of the population is vaccinated. Some countries have lifted restrictions even with 50%, still not herd immunity, but I guess they are gambling, I don't think 50% is enough, and even with herd immunity nobody knows how long the vaccines give you protection, because they did not study the vaccine long term - this is a rushed vaccine, they do work, but for how long.........nobody knows.
It's like a surge and new waves could be seasonal, one thing I am convinced of, they must find a way to track new variants EARLY and prepare new vaccines or a super vaccine for all variants very soon, and administer those vaccines proactively, it's the only way to avoid a resurgence of cases and new waves in the future, because they WILL happen, it's not a question of IF, but WHEN, BUT it CAN be stopped. Some countries / provinces have done a good job to tame the 3rd wave or avoid them.

Just telling people to get vaccinated but that they can also remove their masks and do as they please is so ............. irresponsible !

In India only 12% of the population is vaccinated in 130 days the ceo of thr firm that supplied vaccines to the government has left India because of too much pressure from the government he is in London with his family thats why many people are left with only one dose because vaccines are not available thats why SPUTNIK V has been imported from Russia but is it effective enough to protect against Indian variants thats the big question everything is mismanaged according to a New York times report Narendra Modi is one of the five world leaders who are worst in handling the pandemic

Sputnik V is an adenoviral based vaccine, it uses a proven method, of course maybe not as promising as mRNA, but still these vaccines offer very good protection against severe forms of the infection. As far as variants, obviously they reduce to some extent the effectiveness of vaccines, what would be the most concerning is major mutations. In a variant only partial modification to the virus is present, in these cases to the spike protein to make them adhere more easily to ACE2 receptors, so they are much more infectious - but in all variants you still have commonalities - it should in theory be enough for your body to still neutralise the virus, albeit, it may be more challenging for your body - given the vaccines very high efficacy against the original strain, this means that even with a variant reducing efficacy of vaccines, your protection would still be high enough, you would still, in theory have enough antibodies / protection left to deal with the variant. The issue is, what if a the virus mutations make significant changes, then I guess it would significantly reduce the vaccine efficacy - so eventually they will need to make new vaccines for new variants just like they do with the Flu shot every year.

Pfizer and Moderna are mRNA, with these type of vaccines, their makers can create a new version within only weeks. It would take far longer for the adenovirus - MUCH longer, because with mRNA, it is your own body's cells that build the actual protein spikes that will trigger your immune system to build antibodies.....so instead of the big pharmas manufacturing the key vaccine, they are manufacturing the CODE to inject into your cells (temporary code that fades with time) that let your body be the factory.

As far as India, wow it is such a low figure of vaccination coverage that is such a shame. For now vaccines can still offer good protection against variants - BUT I do not think it will be the case forever - once the mutations evolve into a significantly different version compared to the original one, then new vaccines will be required to prime your body for better protection. I guess for mRNA vaccines, they still offer good enough protection from variants,. including Indian variant, even with a reduced efficacy. As far as the adenoviral vaccines, their efficacy might be more reduced, by ho much nobody knows for sure, but the protection should still be above 50% - if you look at the Flu vaccine it is between 40%-60%, so I'd say the COVID19 vaccines are very much effective in comparison, even with the variants.

How did China avoid those f****** variants ? By actually following the guidelines and strict rules........ If the idiot politicians in the rest of the world did not take this pandemic seriously and allowed the virus to go out of control, they are to blame..........and people who use as excuse that some countries have dense populations making it impossible to control, that is complete rubbish - Look at China's population, look at how long it took them to end their local outbreaks...........and when I see countries like the US with less than 50% vaccine coverage, touting victory and lifting all restrictions, I really worry - If Canada and US doesn't wake the f*** up soon, I would not be surprised if North America might live pretty much the same scenario as seen in India, or Brazil......and so all this vaccine business will have been for nothing - and after those 2 painful doses of vaccine I sure ain't taking anymore g******** vaccine shots, unless I can see a light at the end of this long dark tunnel - Right now the Holocaust of COVID19 is not over.................countries acting like it is over are totally IGNORANT.

India should be VERY concerned - the main reason for variants is the continued community spread - the situation won't get better anytime soon, and if the shitty situation in India is allowed to continue, new variants will emerge, right now vaccines are effective, but eventually they won't be ........

IN any case with all vaccines, nobody knows the long term effects, will we grow a 3rd arm, grow horns, grow beards, grow private parts, change genders, start speaking Latin, become Autistic (yes some claim this is a risk), nobody knows, in 5-10 years we'll know for sure, let's hope we don't turn into Zombies, that's all..... :D

The Indian Prime Minister has said a very high percentage of young children have become victims of the pandemic, people thought only the old were severely affected by the Virus thinking younger people had more resistance and were less likely to fall sick all wrong thinking has created problems shows how ignorant society is towards facts.
