Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced a Covid-19 taskforce that would draw up measures to combat the economic effects of the pandemic, told employers not to cut the pay of staff and called for a “Janata Curfew” on Sunday. He warned of the outbreak’s “wideranging” economic impact, underscoring the need to be prepared.

There is a need to follow two important things to fight this pandemic — resolve and restraint,” he said in a televised address on Thursday. He appealed to businesses to act with empathy, while assuring people that there are no shortages and telling them to avoid panic buying. Senior citizens should stay indoors and others should not leave home unless essential. The country needed to be vigilant and it would be wrong to assume that the coronavirus won’t have a greater impact than it already has. ..

He said the Janata Curfew will be observed on March 22 between 7 am and 9 pm, comparing it to blackouts during wartime.

“During this curfew, we shall neither leave our homes, nor get onto the streets or roam about our localities. Only those associated with emergency and essential services will leave home,” the PM said. “This Janata Curfew will in a way be a litmus test for us. This is also the time to see how prepared India is to fight off a global pandemic like the coronavirus.

He said India has enough food and ration supplies. “Be it milk, eatables, medicines, essential things — we have taken all steps to avoid any shortage. These supplies will never be stopped, so please do not hoard them,” Modi said.

He asked citizens to act with determination and patience.

I need some of your upcoming weeks. You have to commit to saving yourselves from infection and others from being infected,” the PM said. He asked people to avoid crowded places and going out, saying people would be doing an injustice to themselves and their families otherwise. “Try and do your jobs or business from your home,” Modi said

Expressing gratitude
The prime minister also called on the country to express its gratitude to those working to keep the country going, such as doctors, nurses, paramedics, municipal staff and airport workers by going out on their balconies or standing at their doors and windows at 5 pm on March 22 and clapping, banging on their plates or ringing bells.

Be it doctors, nurses, hospital staff, housekeeping staff, airlines staff, government servants, police personnel, mediapersons, railways, bus, autorickshaw, home delivery people — they are serving others, by not taking care of themselves,” he said. “They are… like protectors of the nation. The country is obliged to them.”

GOOD bring the tanks was about bloody time, I'll be there welcoming them in person - That's what we need now, ORDER, because people are obviously closed minded and don't want to take their part in helping to contain this virus, so only order will - bring the tanks, bring the army, bring the nukes if needed, we need ORDER to stop the spread......
You can run for the hill, bunker, etc, there is nothing to run from if you follow the rules and do your part in helping stop the virus.

In China, they had this ORDER and FORCED isolation, God forbid if you did not comply, and NOW ? They have 0 new LOCAL cases, for a 2nd day in a row - only foreign cases. We need to follow this same order.

Bring the tanks, bring the rocket launchers, bring the drones, SHOOT TO KILL the ones who's purpose is to disrupt order and intent to infect others......

Around 3000 trains will be locked down for 24 hrs on dated 21 march from 10pm in India. Only few premiere trains will be operated. Part of initiative of Janta Curfew.

When governments are locking down a country for days, weeks to stop the virus from spreading, closing down a country for a day will change nothing its more a way to understand if people can stay indoors or treat it as another day off.

Days / Weeks ? That is wishful thinking - Some of these lock downs are expected to last MONTHS, not days, at least in some countries. countries with a highly dense population would likely lock down for longer periods. You are right, it all comes down to individuals who so far in some countries are NOT ALL following rules which is selfish. It's too bad that in some countries there is no forced lock downs, like they do in China and other Asian countries. If it all comes down to it, they must seriously consider military intervention, curfews and anybody found not remaining isolated should be prevented from leaving isolation and if they do they would be arrested. It might sound harsh but lock downs should NOT be a suggestion it should be ENFORCED by any means necessary - people should understand that this is necessary.

It depends how you look upon it and should be proud of it or not but India is no 2.
Armies Across The World; countries with the largest armies in the world include India, which is ranked number second in size.

In India, disaster is going to happen. People are poor and they cannot earn a single meal a day without working. If they have to earn a meal, they have to work. It is easy to say to people to stay indoors without money to feed their family. The speech by Indian PM did generate lot of expectations from Poor people. They expected that Government is going to do something seriously. But the speech was empty but a announcement that a task force is formed. Time is short. Already the number of corona patients has increased to 225 today. If people have to stay indoors then they must have food to eat. Without providing this no one will be ready to self isolate. So government must do serious effort to give them food and other rations and then ask them to stay indoors. Organized work force will be having to spend but poor people will not have the resources. Remember In India. there are still 30 crores people with out a single meal a day.

Given the dense population in India and close proximity, even more reason for enforced lockdown. Italy also has a dense population, they only took measures after the fact. Some provinces here in Canada are also dense, the more dense and crammed the higher risk of spreading.

As far as cops sleeping, that might not be different than any other time  Over here you see them sleeping in their cars or hanging around doughnut shpos :P Maybe all that sugar makes them sleep :D

God help everyone in the hot summer months, not every household is fortunate enough to have central cooling, let alone ANY AC. This is going to be the most difficult time for people who would otherwise get out of the house and hang around places which have AC like malls, gyms, etc.

But some countries are scorching hot all year long anyway, it is mostly countries with winter and summer seasons that will find it difficult.

Some people at home also do not have internet, and go to public places for free WIFI.....

O RLY where ? There's nothing to do, you need a lot of luck as too many people are competing for the best jobs, and you need high skills to get most of the work, and GPT has declined MASSIVELY, your only best option is to have an existing offline job that allows you to work from home.

Why give us a lot / WHY NOT 1500 for Australian and 1500 for 25 million Indians ? another countrys can give to another poor country ? example America give huge money to Iranian people ,,, fuck Iranian politic I talk Iranian people

We white and rich , think we are not good people , we just lie and talk crap
