Economically it has world wide a great downfall and impact. Less production of everything, lot less business, less flying, less people on the move etc.
I.o.w. less pollution.
We might this year reach the norm of the Paris Agreement.

Maybe it all goes to show how dumb humanity really is and we still do not learn our lessons.

Before anyone goes from one country to another or ships products from one country to another,
by land, air, or sea, precautions should always be taken.

We already check for terrorists before boarding airplanes. Now do we not see we need to check
for far more than that!

I hope that the instigators of this wet market, selling of wild life for FOOD consumption will have this stain on their conscience, and a guilty conscience for holding the entire world hostage and costing the planet hundreds of trillions of $. These viruses originate from animal, they are transmitted to humans when humans come into contact with them, either through food consumption or sex, or other form of contact such as having them as pets. China can DENY responsibility all they bloody want, but it's not a question of fake news, it's a question of independent undercover news reporting teams who have gone there and witnessed for themselves this talked about "wet market", conducted testing and research along the way.

How DUMB humanity really is ? For starters, operating a wet market - they know gd well previous incidents around the world with mad cow, swine, bird flu, etc, but no, it wasn't enough scare for them, they continue selling wild life and eating them, of course humans are bound to catch whatever viruses these animals have, AND eventually these viruses will "learn" from human's immune response AND mutate to more dangerous and virulent viruses.

If all countries move their lazy bums and take the example of China, Taiwan and Italy, they will manage to stop the spread or at least reduce the number of cases. Once that happens, the markets will react on hope things are under f control. This could be a short lived recession though if the right moves are made ? OR it can be a 5 to 10 year deep depression if the wrong decisions are made. They should close ALL airports around the world to inbound 3 outbound flights.

The fact that our prime minister and wife are both in isolation says a lot about Canada's mishandling of the situation.
NOW they are starting to act, some provinces have shut down ALL schools and public places.

And yes Canada's grocery stores are flooded with panic buyers - and yes you guessed it toilet paper and basically everything, gone, shelves are empty.

Beer lovers rejoice, the only thing you'll find plenty of stock on shelves are Corona and Corona Extra :P

Huh? How is that bad news? When you test "negative" for something it is GOOD news, it means you do not have it.
If you are testing against something and are "POSITIVE" it means you have it. That's how it works in medical.

So if you go get testing for coronavirus and it comes "positive" it means you have the virus, "negative" means you DON'T.

Have you ever viewed that street market in China?

It makes me cry. It is worse than your absolute worse nightmare.

Blood in the streets. Blood running off the tables. Dead dogs laying
in the street. Dead dogs skinned and on tables. Dogs alive chain
and caged waiting for their cruel slaughter. Raw meats and skinned
rats and raw fish of all sorts, and it is nothing short of HORRIFIC.

It makes me cry just thinking about it. I love animals and nature.
I understand that there may be people starving and will eat anything.
However, there really is a humane clean way to go about it.

I hate the China government for allowing such a market to exist and
allowing domestic animals to be abused and slaughtered.

Okay!! correct me if i'm wrong?.

but is it a shortage of food that creates the demand for these wet-markets??, are this kind of food cheap compared to more common food like the usual beef/chicken whatever??

I'll rather do a bungee jump from the world's highest mountain than snack on one of these bats on a stick, Just look at them!! they look like dogs with sharp teeth.

I dunno. I guess some areas of China are extremely poor. Many of them eat anything and
they eat it any which way, dead or alive. There was a Chinese girl on Facebook trying to eat
a raw octopus and it bit her on the face. They eat a lot of stuff alive, especially various fish.

You're probably right, I was just wondering if it was a cultural thing more than a basic need for survival.

Many Chinese also believes it's good for their potency or general health to eat certain obscure things, If it's documented or undocumented i don't know.

I'd say there are many very poor areas in China. Perhaps Wuhan (spelling) is one of them.

Obviously many grow up not having respect for life.

Some do eat very weird stuff believing it is going to make them healthy or wealthy or viral.

I remember years ago when I lived in the State of Florida, my husband and I was fishing in
the ocean, sort of inlet area where many people would fish. We weren't catching anything
at all. We didn't care as we were simply out enjoying the day. There was a very young
Chinese couple, and they were reeling in ..... oh what are those fish called.....stingrays...
they were reeling them in as fast as they tossed their line in. I don't know what kind of
bait they were using. They would jump up and down and scream and laugh every time
they reeled one in. We walked over to them and they had several buckets of stingrays.
I said what are you going to do with those, just throw them back in. The young woman
said 'Noooo Noooo we not throw them back, we back soup, stingray soup'.

I just thought that was so odd because I never heard of eating a stingray and especially
never heard of stingray soup.

Yes Valerie, It's DISGUSTING beyond comprehension, even Trump today made reference that this is a "Chinese virus" and how he intends to stimulate the economy to fight this "Chinese virus", unfortunately the damage is done but he has a point, what he is indirectly doing is putting the blame on CHINA ! And he's right, China is responsible for plunging this world into a Deep depression that will outlast the 2008 crisis !!!! China is responsible for robbing millions of retirees of their well needed savings that they worked all their life saving........If I did not know better I'd say we should boycott all Chinese tourism and products, BUT.........I am a fan and user of Chinese products myself, as unfortunately I have had nothing but horrible experiences with "made in Canada, Made in the U.S." products, which are not only high priced but poorly built, in most of the cases, particularly electronics. But one thing for sure China should be held accountable and yes it IS responsible, they should stop eating bats, snakes and other wild life, though I know that not all Chinese do that, but what I am saying is that these wet markets should be sanctioned, the U.S. should step in and forbid any country from running wet markets of the sort, after all we are talking about the whole planet here, remember it started with just 1 case in China, and look where we are at now ffs, global pandemic, all business shut down, millions of jobs at risk, deep recession forecast and retirement 401ks slashed by more than 60%, it's not bad if you have $20 million your f 401k, you can still manage, but most people barely saved enough or under what they were supposed to save, and will outlive those savings, so imagine people who have 400k saved only to find out that they were rear ended in the arse and one month later they hav 30% less and maybe in 2 months, 60-70% less, can't live with that - assuming people will need 30 years of income, you can't bloody live off that, even 400k, so it is sad.
I think people should focus their anger on the Chinese regime and GOVERNMENT, not Chinese people - that is a big mistake for people to take it ut on Chinese themselves, they should focus their anger on the wet market regimes and government allowing this Think about it, China's own economy has taken a HUGE hit and it will last a long time, Chinese people (the ones who do not eat bats and their testicles, snakes, and other weird wild life animal) should hold their government responsible for plunging their country into a shitestorm that will last a solid 5-6 years if not more.

I dunno how Trump is going to save a recession, I hope that after this run of the virus he won't even THINK of a trade deal with China, ALL trade deals should be off the table......Unfortunately, no president wins reelection during a recession, he is going to lose and that socialist far left tax gauging Sanders is going to likely win, the whole world will feel the "Bern". The Chinese will be responsible for Trump's demise, and Bernie will be responsible for extending the recession another 5 to 10 years.

It's time to wake up and smell the burning coffee, time to wake up to reality, we are all COOKED.
Bernie Sanders is a gigantic farce - there is no way he will get America out of a recession, so I hope Americans
think carefully before they vote for the ice cream truck driver, Trump, as eccentric as he might be, is the only one who is able to keep the markets in check, of course when the Chinese are not sending viruses....

God help us - the next few days, weeks will determine if we plunge into a 10-20 years depression, hundreds of millions of death due to virus and mass suicides......... OR if we can escape this one with a short, albeit, sharp recession and get back to business.

Unfortunately any hope for vaccines is unrealistic, they barely started testing, it would take several MONTHS for more studies, and once that is done, MORE conclusive studies and production, we are looking at potentially 12 months or more before vaccines begin being deployed, of course after hundreds of thousands of people will die and when it will be too late and we are smacked into recession.

Canadians made a big mistake voting for the current Prime Minister, he should be held responsible for mishandling the crisis. Only today he finally decided to restrict incoming flights, except for U.S..........too little too late, Canadian cases are growing rapidly each day, whilst China's new cases is going down.

We have a prime minister who will plunge this country into high deficit and more debt, just like his father!
Canadians were not thinking straight when they voted for him........ Canada seems the last one who finally woke up to the idea of lockdowns.

Was about bloody time.

If only countries had moved their incompetent arses sooner, we might not be in the mess.......We might have caused a recession earlier, BUT saved lives, and contained the virus, which would have in turn made it a short recession with quick recovery, but due to the greed, selflessness and stupidity of governments around the world, this virus has gone out of control and we are now in a deep recession that will make 2008 look like a joke !!!!!

I don't think Chinese people are starving to death, and I know a lot of Chinese, they frown upon the idea of those markets, maybe it's a kinda of "DARE" thing and "once you taste it you love it and want more" kinda thing,
I mean in North America you can find Horse meat, TONGUE and testicles, and who knows what the hell else,
but I have not seen bats, and there is that other weird animal I forget its name, they suspect that it was a catalyst
to the virus as well. I dunno maybe there is a reason, shortage of food I dunno, they can import lots of food from other countries. Maybe they have too many bats and don't know what to do with them so instead of killing them, might as well kill'em and eat'em  I heard also that some eat dogs, cats, rats, roaches, etc, think about that next time you eat at a Chinese all you can eat buffet, :P

I just thought that was so odd because I never heard of eating a stingray and especially

They would have caught a shoe and made soup out of it, it is SAD that some parts of the world are struck with poverty, there are lots of poor countries, but you don't see them eating wild life, maybe the world should consider more help to those countries under a condition that these countries ban wet markets, they could receive significant money and food, and no more of this rats, cats, dogs, bats bullshit, it would be a good investment and would cost less than this world pandemic and recession :/

Never heard of stingray soup now you have, may I interest you in a bowl of stingray, electric eel, algae, crocodile eyeballs cooked in coconut juice and used socks broth! This whole bloody nonsense has to end, it is not right for the whole world to be held hostage over some STUPIDITY. Is it the bats and wild life themselves, maybe not directly, maybe it is the DIRE conditions in which the market operates, absolutely no hygiene whatsoever. I keep seeing those videos on YouTube at how you can eat tons of food for only few dollars in some street buffets in some Asian countries, I'm sorry but I would not eat in those open street buffets if you PAID me to.

One thing people don't know yet, amidst this global spreading of the virus, people will not only be infected with the covid19, but might receive DNA from bats, who knows what the interaction of bats DNA will have with human DNA, we could be looking at very strange human behaviour in the months to come.

Let's just not eat them for starters, we do not need to kill anything, wild life is meant to be left in the wild, let's leave bats alone and leave them in caves.......I'm sure humanity can survive without eating wild life and eccentric animals !
