I did 12 task yesterday, bonus was for 10 "approved" jobs.

I think both less work and perhaps many hits were rescheduled - there were some outages today to the tester.rainforestqa server, so maybe some runs were canceled and postponed, though I saw people in the bonus topic do 50+, they might have done the hits before the outages or after cut off yesterday

I think eventually as more workers join we will definitely see the dilution effect, meaning one day getting only single digit of hits will be the norm, but I remember they had 50k workers at some point, so that cannot be it.

I think the main issue is that we are spoiled with training hits....on days when RF does not have batches of training hits, there is nothing else to test. It seems now they are down to only few recurrent clients running tests.

Discouraging to say the least.

To test the theory of the outages, there is one way to find out. If there is a sudden surge of hits tomorrow, then it will explain the theory on the outages today and that the hits of today were postponed along with those of tomorrow. If tomorrow is also the same then it's clear that there is less work !

They would not have lowered the limit from 4 to 2 if they had volume of work. I think they purposely left it to 4 because they had a big volume of work for a while, but now, it's 95% training hits 5% few clients.
I have not seen plangrids at all this week, and classdojo no more, so either the big fish decided to go
swim elsewhere or it's just a dry spell before the big storm

Both,I guess...my mturk monitor alerted many times,few times I saw big batches-50,but they vanished in almost seconds,like never before In rest,very many alerts,but with only 1 hit listed...

Other possibility...RF took the summer holyday...they are tired and exhausted,so why they wouldn't deserve a vacation ?

RF is never on vacation, they have clients from all over the world, there is always staff there to take care of clients, a dev team, etc. + they are hiring like never before and making new changes / revamping the API......I'm puzzled though, where is the demand ???

Your observation on turk is interesting Katy - If so, then they posted more hits on turk and not on CF. I would rule out cheaters because on mTurk you can't abuse Grand Theft Auto on mTurk returning hits affects your account statistics, and it gets noticed. There is many speculations, maybe RF is getting faster and better results from turk. CF is slow at processing tasks.......hits get processed faster on turk. There was a theory back then that the OOPS dynamically takes the hits from the same shred pool of hits, I don't think it works this way, I think when using the oops we get on CF, they are configured in a way to only get hits that were assigned to CF, and not from the main pool.

Here is another thing also, many big requesters left mTurk due to the 20%-40% hike in fees, some academic researchers and well jobs no more, so more people will go to RF jobs on turk..........Russel Smith is a very popular and most looked out for requester on turk.

it's not the first time this happens, some days are really good some days not......if things keep declining and don't pick up within the next few months then I will worry. It's discouraging to see reduced number of tests and only training hits, but I guess too early to know what is going on for sure.

Right now it seems at least on paper, that RF is in growth and they are hiring......and I asked the requester directly if hey will continue posting hits on CF and they said YES. When I asked it was back in June.
They have a good relation with turk, and their options are limited anyway, it's probably the best
place for them to post hits.

Went flicking through the Rainforest website during the drought, and found these new things:

1. The homepage says how many testers there were There are 285 testers online (refreshing "oops"?), and 4000 testers in the last 24h.

2. Rainforest is now more expensive. Last time I remembered it was $3000/mth, but now it is $5000/mth. Also according to the plan details, there is a limit of 100 testers at once. With there being over 250 testers online at one time, does this mean some of us are being left out because the test maker didn't pay for a more expensive plan?

3. The help section has (unfinished) links for tester help. When the pages finish, what is in the help pages could be useful info.

It's like ClixSense they allege to have 5 million members, but I'm pretty sure not all 5 million are active - on sites like these it would not be surprising if a fraction of them were active, even less than 1m - - -, So same for RF, they claim to have 44-50k testers, but i'm sure out of those, not ALL are active.

$3k was a good bargain ! at $5k maybe barely.......... still more expensive to hire your own in house testers though.It's clear that RF raised the prices to make up for the amazon mturk fee increase (it's a respectful thing that they did not reduce our pay rate ) + don't forget now that RF offers MORE features in the API than they did, lot of new functionality, lot of time savers, so you pay more but you get more too. The THIEVES at mTurk charge 20% now if not mistaken, and for more than 10 units (again if not mistaken) 40%.........Since RF most of the time posts more than these, they can be looking at 40% fees, what a bloody F (pardon my french) rip off ! If anything, RF is not making money out of this but they are handing it over to the crooks at Amazon. I wish RF gave us testers this pay raise and not mTurk. but they are getting better quality results from turk it seems and faster results.

Did they lose clients or job decrease due to increase in prices ? That's left for speculation. I'm sure they have done market research and saw that with those rates they can still be viable either that or they completely lost it, who knows. $3k up to $5k /month is not a small increase.......it's almost double. lol.
