Caution with the Paytoo and the $10 discount

Locked

#1 by chefkang » Fri Jan 10, 2014 10:24

As we saw in the announcement about Paytoo there is a $10 discount for those who will purchase a prepaid card from Paytoo, but what the announcement doesn't say is that anyone who will purchase this card will have to keep paying $2.95 per month that is equal to $35.4 per year for administrative fees. If you forget to use that card for 90 days you will be charged with $5 as well. Those and other fees on Paytoo - PayToo Fees

Do not forget that any credit card you already have can be used in theory with Paytoo so in many cases it's pointless to purchase their card so anyone has to review carefully all the fees before he decides if he wants to purchase that card or not :$

fees rather than discount, your title is misleading. of course announcement will not saying about monthly fees and this and that.

it is not pointless if someone willing to order the card. some member here use payoneer (and urge admin to add as an option) which is the same with paytoo. it has monthly fee, transaction fee inactive fee, minimum balance fee and so on. so it is depends on what people choice for themselves.

i believe you used to take a reaaallly deep breath before you start talking. thank you.

The monthly debit cards fee does sound scary when you put it like that but everyone should be aware that this fee is NOT charged if you don't have a balance on the card so it's recommended not to keep any money on the card to avoid those fees. The same goes for the inactivity fee.

The title is just fine and IS NOT misleading at all. If you don’t know how to read this is your problem.

When the word discount has been used for a possible purchase without mentioning any other fees involved in the process and without mentioning that you can use instead any card you already have for the same purpose, you have to be cautious. And no it’s not obvious at all that the announcement should no mention the related fees. Actually it’s the other way around.

Really :?:

Probably it was difficult for you to think that it will cost you much less to use a credit card you already have that probably has no fees or way less fees anyway and can be used for purchases online and offline as well, so IT IS pointless in this case to purchase one more card because you can withdraw from your PayToo account anyway without their card. Even if you don't have a card it will be smarter to get one from one of your local banks for free or with much lower fees than what Paytoo will charge you.

Payoneer has nothing to do with this topic. If you want to go off-topic please don’t do it here. I hope moderators will take some actions to ensure that no one will start saying irrelevant things because at least in my topic I don’t want that, though I assume that the same is reasonable for every topic in this forum 8-)
dukuntekno wrote: i believe you used to take a reaaallly deep breath before you start talking.
I don’t give a dime what you believe and certainly you are not in position to give me suggestions -or even worse orders- so please avoid trying this again.

About what :?:

Even if it works the way you say, in most of the countries of the world you have to withdraw at least $20 or something of a similar value in the local currency so most of the times (if not all the time) it won’t be possible to empty the card completely by withdrawing from an ATM due to the various charges for withdrawals, currency exchange etc. and because they are smart to charge a lower fee monthly instead of a higher fee yearly anyone can understand that most of the times they will eventually get your money ;)

Additionally I would like to have an official source/link from Paytoo's site confirming that they won't charge the inactivity and administrative fees IF the card has no money and that they will not ask you for that fees the next time you will add funds to that card.

The main point is that the official announcement gives the impression that it’s a good opportunity to purchase that card because you will get a $10 discount but actually it seems that this card it's something that the majority of the users will not need. Other than that when the announcement promotes gently the purchase of that card it's only moral to mention all the related fees 8-)

To each his/her own. The card is a very good option for some people and there are
a ton of reasons why it would be. For others, it may not be. This is why it is an option.
People can choose to purchase the card or not purchase the card.

If you have further questions or concerns about Paytoo, a good idea would be to go
to their website, read thru all the information and FAQ. If you have questions you
don't see the answer to, you can submit a question directly to them. That is the very wise thing to do.

Like it has been said, the PayToo debit card is an option, it is not a requirement. It's up to everyone to decide what's best for them. The $10 discount just makes it more affordable. There is nothing wrong with giving a discount.

The debit card is a convenient way to cash out your PayToo balance, on a local ATM, or to make a purchase online or offline using said balance.

Everyone will have their own reasons to get the card if they wish to. The reasons that may feel wrong to you may be right to someone else. It's everyone's own decision to make.

As for the fees they charge, if you don't believe me then you can ask them yourself. There's no need to create doubt. The fees are to be charged monthly always on the same day and they won't charge for previous periods when new funds are added to the card.

In my opinion there aren't and you already know why after you have read the other topics that are not available anymore where you tried to explain the "ton of reasons". If you have to mention some good reasons that have something to do with the card Paytoo offers and not with any other card you are welcome to do it here.

Yes I agree completely. There is absolutely nothing wrong with the discount. Actually it's the other way around.

But this doesn't change the fact that there are alternative ways that can cost you less to do exactly what you can do with Paytoo's card and actually even more than that nor can change the fact that those who intent to purchase Paytoo's card should be aware about any related fees and this topic here serves this purpose ;)
jasm78 wrote: The debit card is a convenient way to cash out your PayToo balance, on a local ATM, or to make a purchase online or offline using said balance.
Yes it is but you can do the same things or even more things with another credit / debit card with much less fees in total and this is something that someone should take under consideration before he decides if he will purchase Paytoo's card or not.
jasm78 wrote: Everyone will have their own reasons to get the card if they wish to. The reasons that may feel wrong to you may be right to someone else. It's everyone's own decision to make.
When 2 or more things can offer you the same features for a different cost there is an objective way to make a choice and this is the solution with the less possible cost. This is common sense.

If now someone has an unusual personal reason like collecting cards from different issuers in example obviously he can purchase any card he likes but this doesn't change the fact that most persons will prefer the solution with the minimum possible cost because is the reasonable choice 8-)

Certainly I didn't want to create any doubt. On the opposite I was trying to make it absolutely sure that it works this way. I asked Paytoo's support myself and they confirmed that it works the way you said though they didn't have to give me a link for a page that says that. Personally I have no doubt at all that the administrative fee will be charged only if you card has balance but definitely I couldn't reply to this topic to verify your words while it was locked. And while this topic was locked I couldn't post here and let you know some good news as well: There is no inactivity fee for their card

Actually what Paytoo's live support told me is that this page Paytoo - PayToo Fees is outdated and that those 2 cards have been replaced by a new Mastercard prepaid card which will have no inactivity fee but has all the other fees we can see on that page including the monthly administrative fee equal to $2.95.

Their live support says that the price to get the new Mastercard is $9.95 without mentioning any voucher or special discount so it seems like $9.95 is actually the regular price for this new card and anyone can verify that by asking Patoo's live support how much is the cost to get the Paytoo's prepaid Mastercard.

I don't want to create any unreasonable doubts but the discussion below shows that $9.95 is actually the regular price anyway.

Personally I'm confused. Is there really a $10 discount dedicated to :clixsense: members or not :?:

Nonetheless thank you for you kindness to unlock this topic, letting it open for a polite discussion and the deletion of the others ones that were no longer needed. The same way this topic of mine I think that is no longer needed Is discussing not allowed here? | ClixSense Forum so it would be reasonable to be deleted.

Thank you for letting us know that

If other member are willing to mention the same cost for their country I can create a list that could be helpful for several users.

Sometimes you might just make a hasty decision an not read the fine print. Then you get charged with a fee you're weren't expecting. Of course that would be your fault for not reading. But if someone points it out to you before you make a mistake I think that's good thing. Thank you for the heads up.
