The Curse Of ClixSense .............. » Post #11

Thu Oct 31, 2019 08:43 in General Talk

I haven't been on this site very often since ysense took over. I was waiting to see what was going to happen. Doesn't seem too encouraging. The few times I've been here, I haven't made a penny. I just spent 3 hours here today and no cents today either but in the offers, I've getting lots of crappy telemarketing phone calls because I tried to complete an offer which too me over a half hour to get to the very last detail and, wouldn't you know it, it told me my email was invalid!!!! So, I lost out on those cents too. I'm furious. I want to cash out but I don't have enough for what I want so I'll have to pick something I really don't want.

You listen to those con artists too much.

All they do is make up conspiracy theories to suck in big bucks from
people that don't do their own real research in regards to news and
science.

You listen to CNN Fake News, all they do is suck people in who can't think for themselves.

Al Gore started this propaganda for personal financial gain to impose a carbon tax on the public
and the founder of the Weather Channel has debunked Al Gore non-sense.

I don't watch CNN and I don't watch FOX and I don't watch the network channels and I don't
care what Al Gore says or doesn't say.

I use scientific research and common sense.

What happens when you fill a bowl of water with water? It overflows. Common Sense.
Global Warming is common sense.

Some of what is happening to the planet is the natural process of the world. However, the
bowl has been overflowing for a very long time. From 1970 to now, we have used most
of this planets resources. We have murdered, killed, scavenged, polluted, and over bred
this planet. The bowl began overflowing a long time ago and it won't be long til the well
runs dry.

Evidently you didn't do enough research. Records on temperatures and weather didn't start in the '70s. But here's a fact for you. In the '60s and '70s, South America was cutting down the rain forests to export the timber and to make more agricultural land for farming. . Big bucks. That was part of the problem. Without the rain forests, the climate will change.

Climate change has been taking place since the beginning of time. We have cooling and we have heating up years, usually a 10-year span. Ten years ago, my area was getting feet of snow. Back in the '60s, I walked to school with snow over my knees and in some places up to my waist. In 1976, we had a Pontiac Safari wagon, the only thing that could get through unplowed streets with the snow almost up to the hood.

We are now in a warming trend. Temperatures have been this high before. Storms have been just as bad before. The only difference is we have national TV and the internet that allow us to see the weather around the world, which wasn't available before.

The money makers of climate change are hurting our children the most. They are hysterical and many are have breakdowns thinking the world is going to end in a couple years. It's disgusting. Greta is being paid by someone but I won't mention his name. It's up to others to find the same research I did. But she is only a child and is not an expert. She has been fed all this crap that she, too, has become a hysterical child having a true psychological/psychiatric breakdown. It's sad and I feel for all these kids being fed this misinformation.

Anyway, as one person said in an email to me: Climate change is real. We have 4 seasons where the climate changes.

You know what I worry about? Foreign invasion of insects and predatory fish. They destroy the ecosystem. Right now my state is fighting the Emerald Ash Tree Borer. Millions of trees have been killed by these imports. We're also fighting the "Stink bugs," the Spotted Lantern Fly which is killing crops and bees, gypsy moth, (13 species altogether). Then there's invasive fish like Asian carp, Zebra mussels, and more. They are the largest threat to food production in this country.

Then, to my absolute horror, I see that Clixsense has been sold to Prodege!! I could live with most companies taking over but Prodege is not one of them. Their main site (are we allowed to mention it seeing as it is not a rival anymore?) has been deteriorating at a rapid rate of knots for the last 3 or 4 years and has seen earning opportunities decline, as well as rates of pay...am guessing we will see this once great site deteriorate as Prodege have zero interest in user satisfaction and have absolutely no respect for it's users either.

Will see how things go but I have zero patience or sanity to deal with 2 declining websites. And as for the new name, I have no words....

I will hang around a little bit for now until I see if things may change for the better BUT I just spent 2 hours on here trying surveys and was DQ'd from every one because they were closed or I didn't meet their demographics. I know I'll never hit the $25 for PayPal at this rate. It's great that I don't have to wait for a check because I couldn't use Dwolla anymore. I refuse offers that force you to sign up and answers hundreds of questions and still not get the offer. My email is totally clogged by those that I did try because they all go to 3rd party sellers, too, which then shares the info with their 3rd party sellers and I will not download any apps, especially game apps.

Grand total credit $$ for today=$0.00. Great start with this company.

Well, I guess it isn't going to go well for me. There aren't many offers under YSense, only Hulu. Not interested in that. No videos unless they're somewhere else. Do love the various cashout offers now. That's fantastic!, but I don't know if I'll ever be able to do anything on here. :(

What a surprise when I tried to sign in today and got this "welcome." I wasn't expecting it. I come here to make a few cents and leave. I don't stay here all day and didn't see any notices about the change. Why the change? I've gotten lazy. I didn't remember my password because I have a file folder full of different passwords, so I had to make a new one. I get upset when other companies take over sites I'm going to but we'll see how it goes.

I hear ya. All I wanted was a good flashlight. I got an air fryer. How could he mix the two up? Don't know except maybe he needs a new eye exam or stronger glasses. I think he already wears bifocals.

Hurricane Florence » Post #1

Wed Sep 12, 2018 07:23 in General Talk

To those in the path of the hurricane, be safe and follow orders of the emergency management people. Evacuate if in the path or mandatory. Don't wait to see how bad it will be. They say anywhere from 20 to 30 inches of rain, depending on if Florence stalls over North Carolina. Even so, the storm surge will be bad enough. Property can be rebuilt, lives can't, and please think about your fur babies. Don't leave them behind.

We watch reruns of Hogan's Heros. I was curious if any of them were still alive. There are 2 of them Robert Clary who played the Frenchman (he really was French), but I forget the other guy. Robert is 92. A couple lived into their 90s.

I think a lot depends on lifestyle and genetics. It also helps to have lots of money and famous because the best doctors and hospitals are at you're beck and call.

Well, got the total for laptop repair! » Post #1

Fri Jun 08, 2018 11:41 in General Talk

Worse than I thought. Almost $200. I can't afford it but I can't afford a new laptop or desktop computer. In the meantime, I guess I can say bye-bye to eating away my CC balance, which I have been trying to do. Every time I turn around something pops up. Hubby's chain saw needs repair too. It needs a new cylinder and piston, another $200. He needs his saw for the many trees he cuts down for our outdoor furnace.

With the Ash borer beetle, all the ash trees are dying. He's been going around to everyone that asks to take down the infected trees. We're starting on our 2nd batch of wood for NEXT winter, not the winter this year. He is up at another neighbor who has what the neighbor says is 20 cords! We've had a lot of trees come down on our hill from the winter that he hasn't had time to clear. It was our picnic grove, but not many tables and other stuff could be salvaged. Good thing he's in better shape than I am. He'll be 71 on the 28th and still works like he's 20!

Ah....what a wonderful "even" year this will be. Knew it would happen, just not prepared and hoped it wouldn't. Can't wait for next year. Better luck in odd years. :)

Windows 10 UPDATE-DO NOT DO yet. » Post #5

You should be able to hit F8 on start-up and choose " restore to a previous point"

Well, it's been how long(?) since I posted this warning. I don't know how to get an update to fix it if i don't have any internet. i can't get the internet because all I have is a black screen. I tried F2, F8 and F12. I did the testing and everything is okay.

Since I can't do anything on the laptop and couldn't find any information on "the fix," i have no other choice but take it to a computer repair shop and get an estimate on cost because of my limited income before I allow them to work on it.

Windows 10 UPDATE-DO NOT DO yet. » Post #1

Thu May 24, 2018 08:06 in General Talk

Windows message boards were bombarded with complaints after users found that the "restart and install" prompt for the Windows 10 update led to a blank screen with a message saying:

C:\WINDOWS\system32\config\systemprofile\Desktop is unavailable. If the location is on this PC, make sure the device or drive is connected or the disc is inserted, and then try again. If the location is on a network, make sure you're connected to the network or internet, and then try again. If the location still can't be found, it might have been moved or deleted.

The screen has no icons and a few users were only able to remedy the problem with the help of another PC, a luxury many do not have access to.

This is exactly what happened to my laptop. There are fixes but you need a flash drive with the backup on it.

I need to go back to Windows7 if possible because my update was downloaded when they had the incentive to free upgrade 10 from 7.

Got myself in a pickle with my desktop. » Post #8

I found out that I'm not the only one having problems with the newest update for Windows 10 but I got such a headache from talking on the phone for hours about my email program and then hours trying to find out the "why" for the laptop that I had to take some aspirin and give up for the night.

I did find out that Comcast is using IMAP now instead of Pop3. MS Outlook worked for a day. Noiw I"m back to OE6.

I'll be trying again today (laptop). If all else fails, I'll be going back to Windows 7. Luckily I only had my genealogy program on there and my antivirus program. Have original disks for those.

Thanks for the help and suggestions.

I did find out that i have Outlook Express 6 (stand alone) and Microsoft Office Outlook on my computer. I was using MS's Outlook and that's the one that i can't use. OE 6 has some of my contacts in the folder, but not all and I can use it but not all of them and I really don't like it as much. OE 6 still had the messages from 2006-2011 in there and when friends emailed me, I could at least put them in OE6s contact list if they weren't there (which most aren't). So right now, I'll use OE6 until I can figure out the rest of my problems. :(

DaDebil wrote: I find the best way to fix things is to reinstall your operating system. it can be time consuming but it works every time. You can also do a system restore.

My OS is XP. i do have Windows 7 but then I lose all my programs that were digital downloads. I have 3x4 shortcuts on my screen so no can do. System Restore stopped working. I think my motherboard is going or else the hard drive. Things are so slow to load. It's like being back in the days of DSL. I can't watch videos on the desktop because of them stopping and starting, jerky sound.

I started using my laptop more often but yesterday I got a third reminder from Windows10 that there's an update so I thought being the weekend, I'd do the update. Well, it was strange. I got a blue screen with the question of which keyboard I was using and all different countries, choose US, then I got nothing. Black screen. No internet, no desktop program shortcuts, just the recycle bin, which didn't work. i shut it down and restarted. It said "HI" and then asked for my country keyboard, then black screen again. I can't get anywhere. I restarted and hit F2, checked the info there and everything is the same but I still have nothing. I'm bummed because that was my backup. Last thing I did on there was CS videos.

So, I'm really up the creek and don't know what to do. I can't afford another computer nor can I afford professional help. Last time I used professional help, it was to set up Windows 7 on the laptop and it cost me $140. My really old computer needs a power supply and I could use my son's computer that he gave me but it wouldn't let him change the size of the monitor screen (he used it to hook up to a TV). So I'm stuck.

Any cheap suggestions? :)

Outlook Express changed and opened my address book for 2011 plus keeps asking my my password. I have so many contacts since 2011 and I can't send or recieve to the newer ones. Today, I can't access the 'net. I'm using my laptop but i hate it.

I have spent almost a week trying to fix this I think it's from an anti-virus program I no longer pay for and this is when my problems started. I had some problems with that program and decided not to update it. Couldn't uninstall it either.

I'm so upset, i could cry. i can't reallhy afford a high bill through gurus so don't know what to do. :x

I used to be so good in this stuff but left my guard down when i had real jobs and now am screwed.

This gets frustrating. i can't do have the stuff on ClixSense on my antique desktop. i rely on my laptop. I had this trouble last month and it took quite a while to fix it. Now it's happening again. I get tired of calling Xfinity/Comcast. I should have a direct line to them via phone, but no....

Last year, I was calling them at least once a month because of problems with TV or internet. Thought everything was fixed now. Guess this is payback for the bad review I gave them every time they messed up. So, i guess now I'll have to wait for 3 days again before i get the extra bonus If I don't qualify for surveys. Xfinity/Comcast is evil! :(

Ha! Had to call them twice. Got it back but it a couple hours later, no internet. Second time i called, they couldn't find the problem. Everything they tried worked for a couple minutes So they gave up and said they'd have to contact the brains to see what was going on. I hope it's fixed now. No problem yesterday.

Thanks. I'll try your options. As for Win 10 disk, don't have one. I have Windows 7 and downloaded free Windows 10 upgrade when it was available.

Today, when I turned my laptop on, everything worked fine UNTIL I tried to get on the internet. No connection. My options were It uses Xfinitywifi which says no internet. If I click on Connect, it's supposed to connect automatically but doesn't my personal connection which is secured, and 'hidden network, also secured"? I had no trouble yesterday so I don't know what the problem is now. I guess I just have to call Xfinity for the 3rd time this month.
