We're all looking for an easy way
Even when the debts are dead and gone

AC/DC - Dog Eat Dog - YouTube

Quote:Business man when you make a deal
Do you know who you can trust?
Do you sign your life away?
Do you write your name in dust?

Hey, hey, hey
Every dog has its day
It's a dog eat dog, dog eat dog

Grand Funk Railroad - I'm Your Captain (Closer to Home) - YouTube

No clip, but really good to mellow-out to. A lot of people seem to cry during the second half of this song. Maybe it brings back lost memories or yearnings. Or maybe it is the captain taking us on his final journey home (to the afterlife?) & the listener's knowledge that he will never sail his ship again. Everyone interprets this song in their own way.

The Bangles - Hazy Shade Of Winter

One of the most talented groups of the 1980s. Songwriting & singing was shared between all of the band members, and their big break came after Prince gave them the song Manic Monday to record.

Alas, when you have someone as hot as Susanna Hoffs up front, everyone else is going to fade into the background a little, resulting in the break-up of a really good band (I won't insult their genuine talent by labeling them a "girl group") after only 8 years.

Skrill have been very good to me so far, and I have received 2 ClixSense payments from them into my bank account without any problems. I will continue to use Skrill as my payment processor for ClixSense.

Use NBN like me , fast , perfect

The copper wire broadband is what the NBN is going to upgrade me to. But they keep putting back the ETA for my area. Was going to be 2016, then 2017, now 2019 - maybe it will arrive in the year 2525?

Come to think of it, the copper wire the NBN will be using for my broadband was probably installed around the same time as that song came out (1969).

DSL is so slow

For many of us, DSL/ADSL is the only choice available. I live in Australia's most densely populated suburb less than 2km from the middle of Australia's largest city & I still have to wait until at least 2019 before my failing copper wire ADSL internet is upgraded to copper wire broadband (using the same copper wires).

I don't touch coffee after 4pm (sleep much better now that I stopped the evening cuppas), but I do allow myself a smaller dose of caffeine after dinner by having a cup of tea. I prefer the Lady Grey/Earl Grey teas because the extra flavors mean I can drink them without adding any sugar.

Just got so lost in thought that I went to make my nightly cup of Lady Grey tea, and when I sat down and took a sip, it was a strong coffee.

I guess the one thing that really hurt me most over the past few years was when my nation's government started classifying Australian citizens as being "lifters or leaners". I know some other countries describe their citizens as "workers or shirkers".

Over the past 15 years I went, through illness, from being a lifter (paying taxes) to being a leaner (requiring assistance). And what a humiliating, demoralising experience it has been. From being a well-liked manager of 30 staff to being ignored & treated as unworthy of any courtesy or respect. I haven't changed (personality-wise), but attitudes towards me have changed a great deal.

That, to me, is intolerance - refusing to accept the validity of people who do not meet your own high standards of what a person should be.

Australia is very intolerant of disabled people, especially those whose disability is not completely obvious.

In December I met my 82-year-old father at his local RSL club for their $8 lunch (we do that every couple of months). After I left the club to catch the 3 buses, ferry & train home a young man abused me when he saw me holding my pensioner discount card, demanding to know if I had ever worked or paid tax. When I told him I had paid taxes for 20 years before I got too ill to work, he called me a lazy bludger and walked off.

The incident has been so traumatising that I no longer want to catch public transport, as it was the 3rd time I have been abused in the past 5 years for being a disabled person. I haven't been to see my father since then, because I get scared someone will hit me for not having a job.

A couple of times over Summer I was watching TV in the evening & thought it wouldn't be a bad idea to run down to the shop & buy a bottle of beer or wine to have while watching the late movie. But then I would look at the clock - nearly 10pm - too late. It is illegal to buy takeaway alcohol after 10pm here in Sydney.

Where I live is about 15 minutes walk from Sydney's Central Station, and 5 minutes walk from a major bus route into the city. Before the lock-out laws were brought in my street would be full of 30+ parked cars & groups of young people heading into town on a Friday or Saturday night. It was nice to see young people out & about - added some life to my public housing street.

But last Saturday night I counted 4 parked cars & the street was so quiet I went to the news sites to see if there was an emergency situation stopping people from going into Sydney. It was about the same on Friday night too. I miss hearing people enjoying themselves - makes Sydney feel a little dead.
