Cold Chisel - Standing On the Outside

**BTW, for non-Aussies, "pulled a job on a small-town T.A.B." means "robbed a betting shop".

The world is such a small place » Post #1

Just thinking of how much smaller the world has become in the 51 years since I was born. Being able to see what is happening anywhere in the world within milliseconds of it happening. Chatting to people living on every inhabited continent here at ClixSense.

And best of all, sitting here in Sydney in the middle of Winter eating from a good-sized bag of big, juicy, fresh cherries that I bought at the local supermarket 2 days ago for less than $10 and which were grown & bagged on the other side of the Pacific Ocean in Wenatchee, Washington, USA.

I never ate fresh cherries when I was a child - they were just too expensive back then for many working-class families with 4 children to feed. And they certainly weren't available in the middle of Winter like they are now.

How far my cherries traveled to reach my mouth:

What do you mean rain for 30 days??? We've had 12mm ( less than half an inch) of rain this entire month here in Sydney (although they are predicting another 1-4mm for tomorrow). Very dry - all the bits of paper & cardboard I've jammed into my window frames to stop them rattling & closing of their own accord are falling out as the wood dries & shrinks.

Today was predicted to be Sydney's hottest ever July day. We broke the record half-an-hour ago with 26.5C (79.7F). Not bad for what is the coldest Winter month here.

I actually thought of a joke as I killed a mosquito buzzing around my bedroom last night (never noticed them later than May before):

Q: When is Winter in Sydney?

A1: June 7th - June 12th

or

A2: The week Pippa Middleton honeymoons here

Missy Higgins - Ten Days

Just love everything about this song, especially the fact that Missy retains an Aussie accent even when she sings.

If this is the brave new world, then I really hope that I don't get put in the Epsilon or Delta classes! Would probably be okay with Gamma, much prefer Beta though. Not smart enough or ambitious enough to be an Alpha.

KISS - 100,000 Years (Cobo Hall 1/26/76)

First part is demonic bass player Gene Simmons spitting blood. Song starts at about 1:40. Includes the full drum solo by Peter Criss.

Doesn't bother me who marries who, as long as they are both human beings (that can include robots/androids) & over the age of consent.

After all, isn't life all about spending time & finding happiness with the one you love?

Very little chance (probably less than 5%) that it will be coming back.

There are plenty of other payment options available here, and the admin's post the other day about ClixSense looking at other payment methods does give a strong indication that he feels trying to get PayPal's approval again is not worth the hassle.

It was written in 1948 - Orwell just reversed the last 2 digits to get a futuristic date. We actually studied both of his most famous books - 1984 (which was about totalitarianism) & Animal Farm (which was about communism). I would still consider them to be essential reading for anyone who values freedom & democracy.

You can actually watch the movie of Animal Farm on YouTube: Animal Farm (1954) Full 1080p HD. The movie of 1984 with John Hurt starring as Winston Smith isn't available there though.

I was there. 11 years old...

I studied the book in my final year of high school - in 1983. So it felt very relevant at the time.

One of my father's friends was prescribed Viagra. He thought you took it like a vitamin pill - one every morning with breakfast. It caused real problems for him at his workplace - some days he couldn't leave his desk for hours. He just had to wait until things settled down enough for him to be able to walk through the office without everyone staring at the front of his trousers.

Total earnings on the whole Monday .............. 0.01 $

I've had days like that this year. But I also earned $4.77 yesterday ($55 so far this month).

As the late John Denver once sang: Some days are diamonds, some days are stones.

In short you and me earn same amount here

month $55.0073 last month $70.4880

Beat ya!! last month $75.6496

Though my mental health means that there are weeks when I am really, really active here, and then there are weeks where I have real problems focusing on anything and just stop by now & then to do quick surveys that don't require too much concentration.

With the middle of Winter here in Sydney being just like Summer at the moment, I'm in the mood for a couple of surf rock instrumentals:

Bombora - The Atlantics (live) - YouTube (from 1963 originally)

Wedding Cake Island (1980) - Midnight Oil - YouTube (posted in this topic back in December when it was actually Summer here in Sydney)
