I knew it! Cookin I figured it out - that it might be those bot-check Qs.. either number or those Questions about dinosaur, humans, eggs, cyan nose, etc.

Yes that was a challenge question, indeed that is a serious mistake, but you are human and humans make honest mistakes. I've done a mistake too before it was on math question. This results in instant internal rejection +1. Don't worry about it, it's going to be fine, unless you make too many mistakes like that, nothing will happen. I think you should contact them and let them know, keep the ticket on record as proof. but they won't be able to reverse the changes, depending on the mood of the person reading your ticket they might be able to remove the internal rejection, though I don't think they will.

and no you're not one of them.....there is a difference between honest mistake and purposely saying YES.

Thank you for the advice, I'm sure that I've made many errors, just never realized it at the time lol It's not the end of the world, I just felt really stupid. I'm still at -13 so that's a plus.

That's very unlikely to happen. I don't know if the challenge questions are known in advance or random at the moment of generating the session, if it is pre-determined, then the author can cycle a new question. So if there is a test author who tests a new site (a company selling red eggs) then that is a big problem
I guess personally I would take a screenshot, copy the assignment link and I would answer YES, and immediately e-mail RF with the screenshot and details. But for now there is no red egg or dinosaurs or lavendar serpents in any of the tests and odds are there won't be any for a while lol.

Hmm so maybe some of those -13's include those challenge questions you missed.

I think many new workers to RF will be confused with these, and report them as step issue or other. I think RF should have several well constructed training hits when you first begin, to initiate you fully to RF.
some sort of entrance exam type like CF is planning to deploy very soon.
It's good that you caught this soon enough whilst your account is still safe. Too many
errors on these questions you will get blocked, and if you get blocked for these, they are
usually irreversible.

No, skill/challenge/bot checks have always existed, nothing new there.

CrowdSourcing has a really dark side, the good and the ugly happens both sides, workers and also authors who write the tasks. Nice read. Nobody will get rich working on mTurk.

So the big change wasn't the unfamiliar question that I stumbled on. So now I think that maybe it wasn't a bot check

If there was a new bot question, someone else would have seen it by now.

I'm not very computer literate, I know, what a shocker - but I guess most people know how to do a "hard refresh" and I've never heard of it before? I learn new stuff everyday!

Be more careful when answering math/challenge questions because this is what identify you as a human not a bot.

Be prepared to wait a long time for an answer from RF.

BTW, try comparing both profile links you got, the old one and the new one,
do they match or are they different ? If you successfully claimed your profile
the first time AND can log in in your portal, then everything is fine.
It was probably an error on their part Anyhow you'll know for sure in
few months from now

Basically it is a requester who decided to put himself in our shoes as worker, and realised all the crap workers go through, unfair tasks, low wages, etc, and made him look at things in a new light. I wish task authors did the same on CF and put themselves in our shoes. that was a very respectful thing this author did. Perhaps RF should do the same and put themselves in our shoes and work on actual hits lol.

To be honest, I wish they had never done this portal, it is so poor looking,
I think it's something that took them 2 minutes to do I really miss
the turk dashboard, at least you know how much money you are owed, pending,
how many hits you completed, see screenshots, compare your answers,
etc.

They removed rejections but they could have kept the turk dashboard.

Yeah same here each of them has portal link to claim my account but with different ref numbers.
