Had enough cricket for last 1 month. No more for now, or it'll be nauseating. Also IPL is fixed.

While IPL is on full throttle, got a very tragic news of a death of a budding cricketer.
Ankit Keshri, a former captain of the Bengal Under-19 team who was included in the U-23 squad this year, was fatally injured in the field days back and was rushed to hospital where his condition was improving, but around late night yesterday he had a massive cardiac arrest & succumbed to it.
Nothing more pathetic for a sportsperson to end like this. We've seen incidents like this many a times before. Like Raman Lamba of India in the past & more recently Phil Hughes of Australia.

Very very unfortunate. May Ankit Rest in Peace. Sincere condolences to his family.

Yeah its very sad and unfortunate news. He was in the field just as a 12th man, and was in the field just for 4 balls, and within this time period, this incident happened. May be he could have been saved, if he would not be shifted to another hospital by the East Bengal Club and CAB. But no one can deny death.
May his soul rest in peace

Even though they say - to get him to a better treatment, they moved him to another hospital, it's always very risky to shift a patient with critical conditions & doctors most of the time advise against doing it.
But maybe this was to happen. Everything seems to be pre-destined, other wise why he would be on the field for just four balls, being the extra man. :\

It is said the good ones always go early. Maybe he was to leave us so soon.
Very upsetting.

Yes, the second one was the aftershock according to Seismologists, which is normal after moderate to larger earthquakes. Today's one was measured 7.5 at the Richter scale which is one the higher side. Experts from Mausam Bhawan saying in the news there could be 1-2 more aftershocks later.
Showing in the news, the streets of some areas in Nepal have literally divided into two, with building collapsed.

Yes, same here. :) I was sitting infront of the computer, suddenly everything seemed shaking & I thought it's my head was spinning lol. Then realized it's possibly an earthquake. Confirmed from the news. The quake occurred for more than a minute.

:!: Got to watch the news about the earthquake that hit Nepal a few hours back ( hard a hard time sleeping, weather's so hot in the Philippines now ) -- it was an Intensity 7.2+ mentioned on CNN and Aljazerra :o shockwaves reached to parts if India

Hoping there won't be any more aftershocks

( Offhand: Nope, I'm not Indian, but it's hard not to take part in a Forum Thread )

EDIT: Just came in from CNN -- initial reports of 597 lives lost to the Nepal quake measured at an estimated intensity 7.9

As of now 758 deaths have been reported from Nepal, while 34 people were killed in India.
Many mountaineers are stranded on the base camps in the way to Mt. Everest.
At least there were 20 aftershocks in Nepal, according to the news sources.

Prayers for them & may the survivors have the strength to confront it.

@oberder, you're welcome in any thread of the forum. :) Moreover, your country Philippines is on the high-intensity earthquake belt, so obviously any statement/opinion regarding this is significant. ;)

This had turned out to be a major catastrophe.
RIP all the lost souls.

Out of all types of natural disasters, earthquakes can destroy most life & properties (the 2004 devastating tsunami resulted from an under-ocean earthquake); and any quake in the hilly & mountain regions are naturally more destructive than on the plains.

Unfortunately, earthquakes can not be predicted even with all the advanced detecting & monitoring technologies.
There is no forecast possible till date for an earthquake. But what the Satellite sensors can't tell us; extra-ordinarily some animals can sense it coming. The ants are said to feel it well before-hand.
The elephants of the Jaldapara National Park in North Bengal were reportedly started shouting and became restless several minutes before the quake occurred yesterday.
