Quote:One of the greatest barriers to connection is the cultural importance we place on "going it alone." Somehow we've come to equate success with not needing anyone. Many of us are willing to extend a helping hand, but we're very reluctant to reach out for help when we need it ourselves. It's as if we've divided the world into "those who offer help" and "those who need help." The truth is that we are both.

― Brené Brown, The Gifts of Imperfection: Let Go of Who You Think You're Supposed to Be and Embrace Who You Are

I'm finding out very quickly this is so true. I've always been the caregiver in my family and extended families. And have always "done it on my own". Today, my hubby and I had to reach out for that help for his mom. It was easy to do...for her. So very difficult for us. We're praying for a miracle.

Quote:I'm selfish, impatient and a little insecure. I make mistakes, I am out of control and at times hard to handle. But if you can't handle me at my worst, then you sure as hell don't deserve me at my best.

-- Every woman who ever created a dating profile in the entire history of mankind with the genuine, but utterly delusional belief that she is being original. And also Marilyn Monroe, who was actually being original.

Quote:Some people have told me they don't think a fat penguin really embodies the grace of Linux, which just tells me they have never seen an angry penguin charging at them in excess of 100 mph. They'd be a lot more careful about what they say if they had.

Too true Ptcscrutiny. Put in another way,
