What do they do in your area for New Years?

For example, here close to where I live, Memphis, Tennessee drops a big guitar at midnight on Beal Street.
They also have the 'Blues Coffin'. When you go down Beal Street, you can write down your blues and
drop it in the coffin...thereby leaving all your blues from 2011 behind. There's lots of good music (blues),
lots and lots of food (barbecue, fish, etc), lots of entertainment, food and drink. It is very crowded on
New Years eve. Lots of fun!

hello Valerie, happy new year , happy new you, thanks for sharing with us about what usually take place in Memphis, Tennessee. It is good to share the activities around the festive seasons, especially New year in Bali, Indonesia. Well, there are lots of things they usually do depending on where they live.

Bali has much to celebrate and most months of the year always have something of interest happening, with various seasonal things to do and tourist-friendly events taking place, often within the countless temples.

On the New Year's Eve - December 31st most of the people in Bali enjoy dining, dancing, partying, a traditional countdown and lots of fireworks . Some people go to church , praying and giving thanks for the Lord's procteciton and care throughout the year, while waiting for a countdown. I used to do that for the last ten years ,

This year we went around the city and then went back home, having dinner at home , shooting up fireworks , then we had thankgiving at midgnight

Lots of people in exuberance usually have fun crowding a huge square at Renon, white sandy beaches, especially at cafes around Kuta, Seminyak, Sanur and Nusa dua to hang out , dine out and blow trumpets to welcome New year , watch fireworks party till dawn and enjoy the first sunrise on the New Year day.

have anice day, cheers :clixsense:

Bali, is that an Indonesia area? Sorry, showing my poor geology.

It's got to be wonderful living in an area like that. Must be absolutely beautiful.
Does it ever get cold in Bali?

Can you leave Bali? If you leave Bali, how do you go...boat or plane? It's an island isn't it?

I lived in Florida for a year once, at Daytona Beach, a place called 'Ormond By The Sea' but I got tired of it and
I am sure it is nothing like living on an island.

Hey... London has some far out festivities on New Years eve. Must have cost them a fortune to set off all
those fire works. I thought it was cool, the clock, looked like fireworks coming out of the clock with each
BONG BONG BONG of the midnight. Watched it on youtube today. :P

oh come on, Valerie, nothing to be ashamed of , yeah Bali is very wonderful, once people touch down on bali, they will like staying here forever ,

Iit is my pleasure to share with you a little bit about Bali. Bali is just one out of 17,000 islands within Indonesia. Bali is situated on the eastern part of Indonesia, a tiny nice island surrounded by beautiful white sandy beaches and populated by around 4 millon people. and Indonesia itself lies between Assuie and Asia, bali has 8 regencies, and each regency has its unique customs and traditions. The capital city is Denpasar, dear Valerie, bali is commonly called , an island of thousand temples since everywhere we go, we'll find temples, places for worship for Hindus. Bali is also known as a magical island because those who ever visit Bali will feel attracted to visit Bali again and again. I got these stories from quite a number of tourists who have been here many times , and even Julia Roberts loves visiting Bali and once had several filming scenes for Eat, Pray and Love, in her pursuit of happiness . Since then , bali has been more well known as the island of love Lots of foreigners come to Bali for surfing, medical tourism including yoga in Ubud , Bali, Bali is accesible by either by air , sea or land . But most of them come here by air and local tourists come here by cars and palnes.

as for your info, Indonesia is a tropical country , in the equator . It has no winter at all, Valerie, we've got only rainy season and dry season, summer throughout the year , with avg temp 25 up t0 35 degrees centigrade, high humidity.

Bali is , in fact, a resort island just like Koh Samui in Thailand , or Hawaii in USA . It has around five thousand resorts with 35, 000 bedrooms , either small inn accomdating 50 pax, or medium size accomding 300 tourists or even a large one that can accomodate 2,000 tourists, We have various means to go and come out of Bali , either by air , or by land or by sea.

The gateways are restricted to air and sea for foreigners .
