I don't know why but that jingle was in my head all day yesterday.

I was 6 years old in 1962.....and I loved to eat them cold, raw, straight from the fridge.

n 1962, J. Walter Thompson, the country's largest advertising company, ran a contest to create a jingle that the Oscar Mayer Co. could use to advertise hot dogs. Richard Trentlage, a Chicago ad man, won the contest with a tune called "The Wiener Song" whose lyrics were:

Oh, I wish I were an Oscar Mayer Wiener,
That is what I'd truly like to be-ee-ee.
'Cause if I were an Oscar Mayer Wiener,
Everyone would be in love with me.

Don't forget to look at the Super Moon tonight » Post #4

It was cloudy here last night but the moon finally moved out from behind the clouds at the right time.
I was really expecting it to look closer and larger. I was also expecting a beautiful orange color but it wasn't.
It was a bright white. I could see the outline of the mountains on the moon, much better than normal.

I think another problem for people in America in regards to eating healthy, is not all whole foods are
readily available.

For example, I live in TN, a southern state. But not so far south that there is a constant supply and
large variety of fresh veggies/fruits.

I'm always eager for summer, when the watermelon, cantaloupe, muskmelon, melons, tomatoes, corn
on the cob, beets, etc etc etc are fresh and available.

In the winter, there is little fresh veggies and fruits. What there is, is mostly shipped in from over seas.
In small towns, even many of these items are not available in the winter.

I love watching the tv shows, like travel channel, that shows people walking down the streets and all
the fruit and veggie vendors, lots of them, with the huge variety of delicious fresh stuff. They'll be
talking on the show about the scenic views and my mouth is watering looking at all the fresh foods.

Mmmm that sounds so good, jeff120.

I have plenty of room to plant a garden but have not done so. One year, I planted some tomato plants in two
large flower planter pots. They did in fact grow and it was fun to go out a pick a tomato. They did not grow large.
In fact, rather small but I knew that when I planted them. Still, it was fun and nice to know I was eating something
I grew myself without all the pesticides.

I've been doing some canning and plan to do a lot more as the farmers crops come in. There's always fresh
veggies at stands along the roads and in the small towns here. I'm especially wanting to can tomatoes and
corn this year. Also, I want to make/can watermelon jelly.
