Coronavirus may spread through normal breathing

The reponsible authorities of some countries are recommending people to wear artesanal masks made with ordinary fibers like cotton...My personal opinion on this is that they are not efficient and the authorities are concerned with a lack of EPI to the professionals dealing directly with the infected.

Since the begginnig of the outbreak I wasn't concerned about being infect by touching surfaces (because this was basic care even before the corona outbreak, not to touch the face or putting fingers on the mouth, to wash or desinfect the hands).

When I go out I keep safe distance from people but when i run sometimes there is wind, often agaisnt my face, if there is particles on the air (droplets) or even worst if the virus can be trasmitted by the breathing, there are only 2 option: not go out or use a proper mask  Look how the virus isn't spreading so badly in South Korea and Japan, there they always had the polictics of wearing masks for their own or of the others safety.

Me, myself I'm not scared of this virus. I doubt it can kil me (other forms of life, not viruses, didn't succed in doing this so far and they won't   ). But even if we might probalbly have an immune system that can deal with this virus (hypothetically) we need to take care not to negligently contaminate our family or others.

Wear a mask!

Ask yourself this question:

Do you want to die today?

If your answer is no, wear a mask.

Even if it is nothing more than a scarf, it may prevent your death.
Think about it.

The better your scarf, the better the safety.

You can make a mask by using a coffee filter. It really is a pretty good way to go about it.
Take a coffee filter and wrap it inside the scarf. Tie the scarf very securely around your
mouth, chin, and nose.

Stay at the very minimum 8 foot away from others. The further away, the better.

Wind is not going to carry droplets very far but this is also why it is important for you
to distance yourself from others and to create not only a good mask, but make sure
your mask is secure.

You are right Valerie :D :D .
We cannot play with our lives....I'm grateful just for being alive and having the possibility to evolve everyday.
I will find a solution (maybe at least for now I will exercise inside). I found on internet a scarf like protection it is used agaisnt dust when people go pratice sports outside but when I run I sweat compromising any protection I might be wearing. I bet the cofee filter is more efficient than the cotton ones...because the fibers on cotton masks may not serve as such a good barrier even when folded ... I do will stay at least 8 feets (or 2,44 meters, I had to convert, here we use metric system) :) away from people when i go out. On my opinion the distance now is the most effective meassure. :D

Cotton, Coffee Filters, Vacuum Cleaner Filters, Various House Air/Heat Conditioner Filters,
Various filters in dust remover house appliances, Various Paint Masks for painting and other
work, plastic face shields, hats/caps that have snap on plastic face shields (amazon sells
the plastic shield hats), just look around your house slowly and think.

PS Run inside in place

One can wrap toilet paper around the head also as a face mask , suspect that many have plenty of TP at home these days.

The way it is going, you'd get mugged, maybe even murdered, just for the
toilet paper.

The only way people can ALL follow the distancing rules is to pass a new law forcing people to eat garlic and other foods that make you stink - they should also make it a rule that you only take a shower once a month, and change your clothes weekly, this way people will have no choice but to stay far apart from one another, problem solved, no more spread of the virus, and we are back to normal sooner than later. The only deaths would be from existing cases and of course people who get to close to the smell radius. Aren't I a genius ?

lol - no, toilet paper or paper towel do not make effective masks, the virus'll pass straight through them, nothing is as effective as approved masks. The do it yourself masks are not as effective. Currently the best and 100% foolproof method is wearing Darth Vader helmets

We can catch it when being close to contact (those effected, when they speak there a jet of air coming from mouth).

Through air without closer to contact, impossible! Any debates at this point then scientist will have to develop devices that catch coronavirus element when being alone if any!

I recall someone creating device catch smoking element through air and my city accepted that as an excuse banning restaurant patio smoking.

anupsinghvns wrote: The new coronavirus might spread through the air via normal breathing and speaking, US scientist said. The primary route of transmission for severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) is through the larger respiratory droplets, up to 1 millimeter across, that people expel when they cough and sneeze. Gravity grounds these droplets within 1 or 2 meters, although they deposit the virus on surfaces, from which people can pick it up and infect themselves by touching their mouth, nose, or eyes. But if the coronavirus can be suspended in the ultrafine mist that we produce when we exhale, protection becomes more difficult, strengthening the argument that all people should wear masks in public to reduce unwitting transmission of the virus from asymptomatic carriers. Very interesting
