How SAFE is our data on this site ?

Locked

#1 by Darkstar2 » Sun Oct 06, 2019 12:53

Just curious, how SAFE is our data on this site, our legal name, address, birth dates, etc. We are providing this information to the site, NOT by choice but necessity if we want to take part of surveys, offers, etc. I can understand that there is no true privacy online, BUT, one thing I think is wrong is for moderators to have access to a member's data, at minimum they should sign an agreement to keep said information confidential. Each member has their own choice if they disclose their name, birthdate, or any personal information, it should NEVER under ANY circumstances be allowed for another staff, mod, etc, to publicly release personal info either in part or in full unless a person has done it before. We all have a choice here, some of us use a nickname, some of us use real names by choice, our privacy should be respected by staff and at no time should our data be published on the forum without consent!

I think it is a very bad idea to allow mods access to member data - this should only be for ADMIN access only!! The only data a mod should be able to access is a member's statistics, forum posts and user ID, that's bloody it. Real name, city, postal code, date of birth, address, there is no business for a moderator to have this information - having this information open like this I find deplorable ! This is a serious security breach, any mod can simply misuse the data.

That's a very good question indeed, In my case Google is pretty determined that this site is not secure (red "NOT SECURE" text to the left of the ysense web url), But again it states this on many sites i visit (I'm a very shady person)

Namely the gaming industry has had a lot of problems lately with private information getting leaked, But what else can we do than trust the sites we visit (I'm always wearing my tin foil hat before turning on my pc).

Every xxx damn thing spies on you, These days.

EXACTLY, I convey that too NOTHING is 100% safe, without going into much details was wondering to what extent our data here is accessible (admins, moderators, developers, other......) if anything our data should be reserved for ADMIN use only. :)

Naked , no clothing is not same as naked data exposed

Naked , no clothing is like love story , no drama, but naked data exposed is hard porn , pure horror , one can die and freeze to dead

What have you been adding to your Turkish coffee Tasman1 ? Naked data can be misused, true, but porn actors work on contracts, regulations and consensual activity

Some people decide to use their real info that is their decision, some people decide to not use their personal info and post using a nickname, this should be respected .... just saying ;)

No of course not. Not unless someone tells them or they look it up. Moderators do
not have access to member accounts. All moderators have access to is the forum
member stats/warnings, that kind of stuff.

But if you put a condom on the computer mouse , then you should probably be safe online.

So i don't think you have to sit 'naked' in front of your computer to feel safe.

Agreed, this topic has nothing to do with porn, Tasman1's mind is in the gutter :P This is actually a serious topic, and those concerned will understand why.

Back to topic,

@Valerie: As far as different ways to acquire data, point being discretion is the right thing, if you find personal data about somebody would you post it on the forum without their consent ? This would not be an example for a mod to set, nor does it set good precedent. As far as people sharing personal info with others without consent they should keep their giant pie hole shut or ask for consent first :P

So before this topic gets locked, I will be straight:

I respect people's privacy and do not post their personal information on this forum I would expect the same in return !!!
I don't give flying rabbits dung who said what to whom, if I want to divulge personal info I will on my own accord.
Some people like to divulge their info or use their real names as handles that's their decision....Some people use handles instead and do not like to divulge info, it does not matter if it is PART of a name, or a few letters, people have no right to post personal info without consent. PERIOD!

'nuff said, hopefully the message comes across.

NOW this topic can be locked  AND we now return you to your regularly scheduled soap opera :P

I think what you are saying is, you do not appreciate me addressing you by your
first name. I have taken it to note and I will not ever address you by your first
name again. That was obviously something I should not have done and I apologize.

Do keep in mind, moderators do not have access to member files.

I just happen to have a high iq and a crystal ball.

No one here knew my name till you started plastering it all the forum.

hmmmm, if you had an high IQ, don't think over the years you would of been doing
such low type paying programs that requires daily manual labor, don't confuse a
real crystal ball with a bag of pennies.
