Well facebook is only a tiny drop in the ocean and only part of the problem. If FB disappears tomorrow, people will have other venues to advertise their rubbish. It would be on other social media site, blogs, amazon is also filled with snake oil merchants and all the infomercial crap. People leaving facebook are overreacting - it's not like FB is stealing your data, it is people to blame for putting so much data in their profile and posting every move they make. I've been using FB for a long time and never had issues - I do not ever publicly display my real date of birth, and I certainly do not include my home address, work address, phone number or anything personally identifiable data that can be misused. So FB can spam with all the ads they want, as long as it is FREE to use, and I just ignore them, or report them and warn others.
Some people misuse FB and will write everywhere they go, even to the bathroom
They will write where their kids go to school, what school, what time they go pick'em up, what time they go to the ATM, and even worse, what date they are traveling and that they won't be home. People are part of the problem sharing so much data, FB is not forcing you to - people have to be responsible and use social media in a responsible way. Privacy online DOES NOT EXIST ANYWHERE, but you can control your data.

I have no problem with that - that is what keeps internet free. The only thing you pay is your ISP for service, but the content and services online are free. Without monetisation and data collection, you'd be paying for FB, e-mail, reading the news, the weather, you'd pay for everything you use, and your internet would end up costing you 4 figures a month instead of 2
There is data selling everywhere you go online, they can track my habits and my data no problem, so long as they do not have enough data to steal my identity or cause problem, no issues here. Even the surveys we fill here are collecting data, even with you disqualify those pre-screen and profile data questions are used by routers to earn extra money and that's how companies running those networks earn hundreds of millions per year, it's from leads, and not exclusively from surveys
I don't blame the youth not knowing what's up and down in the online world, Parliament election in Denmark tomorrow and fake news are on a wildfire already . Some of our politicians even decided to promote themselves on adult related streaming sites.
Today's youth know quite a lot more than adults give them credits for. Look at drug dealing, pimping, prostitution, sexual relationships, pregnancies, it's happening at much younger age now, you have kids now cussing their parents, cussing in public, authority, in school, hitting their teachers, etc, you can find some videos online on that and if you watch TV shows they are exposed to.
As far as technology, today's youth can teach adults a thing or two, as to using computers, facebook, youth is not all that innocent, they KNOW and are AWARE of the shit online. UNFORTUNATELY, one thing youth lacks nowadays is proper education on posting and chatting online. Youth might be smart and know how to configure computers and set up social media and how it works, BUT unfortunately in this f***** up world we live in full of sexual predators online, youth has to be educated by adults and be cautious when chatting online on any given site or social media.
As far as FAKE NEWS and FAKE rubbish, you can find a lot of that online on streaming sites, even YouTube, lot of fake shit and propaganda, stuff like if you wank you will go to hell, how to make electricity out of thin air; people with super powers jumping from 20 story building and landing smoothly on their feet, etc.
I tend to CHANNEL out this crap and warn others on scams, it's up to parents to teach their kids the dangers of online world - the same dangers they will be exposed to in real life. The day our selling of data will be gone is the day internet will become for the wealthy only.
Open FB post pictures cost: $50
Check your e-mail: $25.00 per month
Check the weather $5.00 per month
Watch videos on youtube $35.00 per month
Anything that is currently FREE would be a pay per use or a fixed subscription.
So whether you use your internet or not, your data is being sold in the real world, even in the physical world when you buy products, use your CC, shop, etc, your habits are constantly tracked and your data is sold.
SOON when the one world government will REQUIRE chip implanted in our arms, we will all be tracked, our whereabouts, what we do, what we spend, how much time we wank, etc, refer to the mark of the beast in revelations and what happens to those who refuse the chip implants
