I buy new phone and get more calls from unknown

So I buy a new tracfone a couple of days ago and received it yesterday. Not even finished
going through everything and I have more phone calls from unknowns than knowns.

FYI I usually purchase a new tracfone every year or two.

It's a Samsung phone, Android and it's just funny that I got to thinking about the calls
from outer space....

In the good old days of rotary land line phones, when there was no answering machines,
it was truly wonderful. If it was a wrong number, they either hung up the phone or said
sorry, dialed the wrong number. If you weren't home when you got the wrong number,
you never knew it anyway.

Now what happens when you get a wrong number? Yeah, you go online and you do a
search for the number to see if there is a martian from outer space calling you or worse,
an unknown from no where.

Happening to me a lot lately with my mobile, someone somewhere has handed my number to a 'third party'. Two unknown numbers which I ignore keep calling me, I think they got the message as they've now stopped and I forget the site names but there are some pretty useful sites to check if it's E.T calling or not. ;)

I have no idea what a tracfone is.

A TracFone is a brand/company that sells mobile phone minutes and also makes cell phones
and works with cell phone maker companies to produce phones for them.

The phone I have is a Samsung made cell phone with an Android operating system that works
in conjunction with TracFone.

Often there will be TracFone's you can buy that will offer a special deal such as double or triple
minutes for life of the phone. This means if you were to buy 50 minutes, you would actually
get 100 minutes if you have the double minute offer.

I always buy the triple minute offer phones.

I have a landline and home most the time and make and receive most my calls this way.

I no longer need a contract phone so for the past several years, I have gone the no contract
way using TracFone's.

My recent purchase is a Samsung Galaxy Luna. It came with 1200 minutes, 1200 text, and
1200 data. Included is the charger and car charger in addition to the skin/case. I can purchase
minutes any time I want and will receive triple the amount. After one year from activation I
will need to reactivate the phone by making a purchase of minutes and/or another year of
service minutes.

I paid $99 and you see, I probably won't even use all the 1200 minutes/text/data in a year.
It's a smart phone, wifi enabled.

When the year is up, I might continue to use it and buy more minutes. Most probable, I will
just buy a newer TracFone at that time.

Maybe you should Contact them back. You can recruit them by asked them join under you on Clixsense. You are acting like telemarketing of Clixsense

I gave up on track phones after I bought one and had the number about 3 days and was getting over 200 calls a day. I actually took the phone to the police station the old number belonged to a drug dealer. They gave me the fee for the phone, and kept it lol.

I changed over to boost mobile love it, however someone gave my number out to a real estate place and now I keep getting calls about my house being for sale lol. The issue is their area code was suppose to be 910 instead they gave them 919 which is my number.

I would never use trac phone again ever.

Welcome to the club! I do not get that many but I get my fair share. Currently they have gone to using the same zip code and prefix as you have, so that's makes it look like a local somebody calling. If I don't know the # i do not answer. They are all Jerks! I have Net10 which is owned by AT&T Mexico mobile, as are most of the prepaid cell phones. Currently thinking of going over to Patriot Mobile. See how that works. :kitty: 8-)

Oh I really like TracFone and have never had issues with them at all.

I don't think phone calls have anything to do with the phone. It of course may have something to
do with the phone number but that can happen with any service.

I was on Verizon for many years and paid a monthly fee and I received unknown calls from time to
time not to mention wrong numbers.

For me, I know everyone that is going to call me and have them in my contacts. For example if I
get a call from Bob, it is going to display 'Bob calling' and I answer it. If it doesn't display who it
is, I don't answer it.

A cell phone is not extremely important to me. Most my calls come in on my landline. I do really
like TracPhone due to the reasons I stated. Rarely do I ever need to buy more minutes. 1200 minutes
a year is usually enough and by the time the next year rolls around, I simply buy a new phone with
the triple minutes included again.

I am not one to yak yak on a phone. My conversation goes something like this:

Hello
Yes
I will be there at 9.00
Bye

or

Hello
Yes I saw it
Bye

or

Hello
Are you going?
Me too.
Bye

A long phone conversation for me is 2 minutes.

Sometimes Tracfone gives you a number that someone else had. Another reason for the unknowns or names calling you. You can request a new phone number, but no guarantee that you won't receive unknown calls again  I have no problem with the phones. I've had Samsung and now a LG. It's all I need. Long distance calls only cost you minutes and a land line can rack up a whopping bill. So it's good for that  Saves money :$
