Trouble with Chrome

Locked

#1 by akalinus » Mon Sep 05, 2016 16:26

I have not been able to do clicksense since the porn attack. I thought my account was lost. I tried another browser and was able to do it again. If you can't get on, try a different browser.

Does anyone know how to uninstall Chrome and reinstall it? I tried and got a message to close all windows. I did but it won't uninstall. I think my Chrome is Compromised. If I delete it instead of uninstalling, will it all go away or can I get it back? I do a lot of things on Chrome including gmail and don't want to mess it up. Thanks so much.

Go to the control panel on your computer, click programs and features, locate Google Chrome and uninstall.

You can also use Revo-uninstaller.

It's better than the build-in uninstaller in windows.

I did that and it just says to close all windows. I did that but the problem is still there. I am wondering if my Chrome was damaged by the hacker. I cannot do clixsense on Chrome at all, only get the forum. I am not that savvy and wondered if one of the techies could tell me what to do.

Did you reboot your computer before trying to uninstall Chrome?.... Reboot your pc and then try to uninstall Chrome, as even though you may have closed all windows, some chrome process maybe running in the background, not allowing you to uninstall.

If the above fails to uninstall, just try to uninstall in safe mode. For that just reboot (restart) your computer and keep pressing F8 (that is the function key that works for me) to get the option to go into safe mode. Once you choose safe mode, let the OS boot up and once you are within windows in safe mode, just try and uninstall chrome.

If you are using Win10 and Win10 is running then to get into safe mode just do the following: -

Quote:Use the Shift + Restart combination. Another way of getting into Safe Mode in Windows 10 is to use the Shift + Restart combination. Open the Start menu and click or tap on the Power button. Then, while keeping the Shift key pressed, click or tap on Restart.

It's a Uninstaller you can download and install on your pc.

Windows often forgets to remove loose files when uninstalling while revo has a more in-depht search and does a better job of removing all leftovers.

Ok if chrome won't uninstall i have a few suggestions for you.

click on the start icon in windows and type taskmgr,Open taskmanager and click on proccesses,Right click on every google proccess and choose end proccess, Then try uninstalling chrome again.

You can reset chrome to it's default settings and it's quite easy,Click on the customize icon in the upper right corner of your chrome browser,Choose settings,in the bottom of the page click on show advanced settings,Scroll all the way down and click on reset settings it will ask you 1 more time if youre sure,After it's reset you could try uninstalling it again.

Of course i would also suggest a virus scan,Download and install Malwarebytes and do a full scan of your system,It might be that you have malware on your pc.

Click on the customize icon on your chrome browser,Choose settings and click on extensions,Disable all your extensions and see if that's what caused the problem,Try uninstalling chrome again.

As a last resort you could reset your windows system to a previous date before all this happened,Click on the start icon/control panel/System and security/Backup and restore/Click on recover system settings on your computer/Click on open system restore/click next/Check and see if there are any restore points and don't forget to check that little box that says "Show more restore points"/Click next and do a system restore.

Hope any of this helps.
