@tasman Are you going work for a company only pay you 4 dollars a day from your job?

davidbugs wrote: @papamike these big city like New York, California, Hawaii, Washington, D.C. can afford 15 dollars an hour. Since a lot of people have job opportunity compare if you live small town in America. Since only less than 2k people live there.

This why India people want come for American for higher salary. Don't blame them it's not their fault. If you they stay India. They are only get paid 8 dollars a day. If they move in American. They are going earn 8 dollars an hour higher.

If a business can't afford their living wages their employees. They should not run a business at all period.

@Proads everytime they are raising mininum wages it is going hurt in business. This been saying it since 1960 or early.

It's all about the money, employee should have no loyal their company . Take a look sports athletics are making more money than average joe since 1980. An average highest salary sports athlete making 1 million dollar a year. Today sports athlete making 300 million dollars to sign up a long term contract.

Davidbugs, you are incorrect. People come here, not because of the $15/hour minimum wage. They would come here for a $7.00 minimum wage.

Here is a compilation of average minimum wages from around the world. These figures are actual conversions from their local currency into US dollars.

USA - $7.25 per hour
INDIA - $0.31 per hour (that's 31 cents)
PHILLIPINES $0.69/hour (61 cents)
MEXICO $0.69/hour (69 cents)
HAITI $0.35/HOUR (35 cents)
DOMINICAN REPUBLIC 39 cents/hour
CUBA 5 cents/hour
CHILI $2.02/hour
BULGARIA $1.70/hour
BRAZIL $2.02/hour
ARGENTINA $3.84
SPAIN $5.85
GREECE $5.23
PORTUGAL $4.73
PAKISTAN $0.62

As you can see, legal immigrants would be happy to receive any American dollars. Our people are just spoiled.

From your comment "If a business can't afford their living wages their employees. They should not run a business at all period." I can tell that you have no inkling what it takes to run a business. So, maybe, if you go to school, take some accounting, economics, and business classes you might:
A. learn a little about what you are talking about.
B. get a career where you are making more than minimum wage.

Remember this...THE CONSUMERS IN AMERICA OWE YOU NOTHING. Your basic human rights are "LIFE, LIBERTY AND THE PURSUIT OF HAPPINESS." The key word in this is PURSUIT. You have no right to happiness, you have a right to pursue it. To obtain happiness, you must EARN it.

I agree that sports figures are overpaid, but they are paid what they are because people accept the fact that they have earned their way to the top. Oh, there's that annoying word EARNED again.

valerie wrote: Well, hold on a minute Mike.

Don't forget, if it's not one thing, it's another. Right on track this should be left up
to the states but keep in mind these lower cost of living states may not be as low
as people think.

Kentucky.....it's might good in some respects especially many years ago when the
did away with the food tax. You go to the grocery store and put $100 worth of
groceries in your cart, you pay $100 at the register. You go to McDonalds and buy
a food item for $4.00 at the pay window, you pay $4.00. Now lets look at ....

Tennessee....I can't even figure the dang gone ticket out! Here is my most recent
receipt from

Walmart:

Subtotal: = $310.27
Tax 1: 9.750 % = $6.34
Tax 2: 7.750% = $19.01
Total: = $335.62

The first tax of 9.750 % is for NON-food items
The second tax of 7.750 % is for food items

Now then, do you want to figure up a receipt to see if those tax's are correct?
Why heck no! You just take it for granted what you purchased is calculated
correctly. So if you have $300 worth of edible food items in TN added to your
cart, tack on 7.750 % = $323.25 THINK hard about that. Almost $25.00 sales
tax on $300 worth of food.

Recently, I built a new house. When I say 'I' that is what I mean. Took me
several years to build an average size house. THINK about that sales tax.....
My house cost me a lot more in this low state of TN then it did just over the
line in KY where the sales tax is more like 6%.

My point is, a lot more comes into play then most people even begin to think
about....such as sales tax. Go ahead give TN residents a $15 minimum wage
raise so that we can see the sales tax not to mention, everything else increase
in price.

If the country is going to give the money to someone, it should be the retired
people that have worked hard all their lives. They rarely get a cost of living
raise and when they do, its not even noticeable, a buck or two.

What you're saying is very true Mike but there is even much more than what
is stated here that comes into even simple economics.

I agree, but that should be left up to the individual state to determine what the effective cost of living is and apply the minimum wage appropriately, not the federal government. You cannot have a blanket minimum wage to cover every state since each state has a different cost to live in.

Bring me an ale if you would, please? BTW, what would be the best brand of English beer? I'd like to try it if I can find it here in the states.

In a USD/EUR = 1.361 you are earning $463.98 per month USD.
Based on a $20 hour work week you would be earning 5.35/ hour.

Minimum wage in the US is currently $7.25. Based on a 20 hour work week, that amounts to 627.85

I should think you would be happy earning even $7.00 here since the Local Purchasing Power in United States is 102.15% higher than in Croatia. Meaning that you can buy $102.15 more goods per dollar in the US than you can for the same amount as in Croatia.

But hey, each to their own.

Remember one big thing, David.....you can't take it with you when you're dead.
People will not remember you because you had money. They'll remember you
by your deeds and the love you gave others. God will judge you not on how much
money you had or how nice your house and car was.

Do this right now...... BLINK your eyes.

Did you do it?

Because that is how fast the end comes. Almost in the blink of an eye.

I'm not knocking your desire to be rich but I will tell you, it takes a lot more than
desire.

@proads Donald trump isn't going do nothing. Until you kick out all the people from senator and congress.

Donald trump is no Ronald Reagan at all. He didn't run any public office at all.

davidbug
1) Slaves don't get paid to work so you are not working slave labor.
2) You think the world owes you a living a bigger living. Think again. If you want a higher minimum wage in the EU, that's your problem, not America's. It's your union, fight for it yourselves. Just as we have not relied on the EU to fight for what we've got.
3) A world minimum wage would only hurt the US. We already subsidize the European nations with providing most of your defenses through NATO.

Please note: your comment here really touched a raw nerve of mine.

It's ironic you use a double negative when saying Donald Trump isn't going to do nothing.

Which means, much to your chagrin, he will be doing something..
